Lowe Enterprises Investors acquires Affinia Chicago Hotel, rebrands it MileNorth Chicago

Lowe Enterprises Investors has acquired the 213-room Affinia Chicago Hotel from Denihan Hospitality Group and will rebrand it the MileNorth, a Chicago Hotel. LEI affiliate, Destination Hotels & Resorts, will take over management. "Our team has focused extensively on the Downtown Chicago submarket, an area that we expect will grow significantly in the coming years," said Mike Everett, SVP of acquisitions for Lowe Hospitality Group. The seller was represented by Eastdil Secured. Lowe Enterprises Investors represented itself in the transaction, the amount of which was not disclosed.

Marriott International has announced it has signed an agreement with Galaxy Entertainment Group for two luxury hotels under the Marriott International brands to anchor the second phase of the Galaxy Macau, according to Hotel Management Asia. The Ritz-Carlton, Macau and the JW Marriott Hotel Macau will be Marriott International’s first in Macau. The properties are due to open in 2015.
“We are very excited to be launching our brands in Macau,” said Simon Cooper, president and managing director Marriott International, Asia. “Macau is a compelling and dynamic market and we have invested a great deal of time identifying the right partner and property for The Ritz-Carlton and JW Marriott hotels. GEG and the Lui family are bold innovators who understand the market and their customers intrinsically; for us they are the perfect partners. The Ritz-Carlton, Macau will feature 250 one- and two-bedroom suites while the JW Marriott Hotel Macau will feature nearly 1,100 rooms and suites.

Aurora Collection opens the Carin Lodge And Hotel

The Cairn Lodge & Hotel has opened in Auchterarder, Scotland, following a multimillion dollar makeover that created more than 40 jobs in the area. More than $5 million was spent on the acquisition and reinvention of the Victorian property. The interior decoration and furnishings were supplied by Andrew Martin, light fittings by Studio Italia and bedrooms feature bathrooms and amenities from the White Company. The highlight of the property is the Grill Room, one of the few venues in the UK to feature a Josper Grill, a new oven.

Investors were expecting more growth from online accommodation site Wotif.com, which today said it expected profit to increase by 9% to 13% this financial year. Its share price slipped 5% as a result – not the outcome you'd assume management was looking for when it revealed the figures.
